I had a bottle of Dogfish head Palo Santo Marron left over from the 4 pack I purchased. I was thinking of pairing it with cheese or another dish. But, I decided to cook with it instead! I wanted chicken wings so why not cook the chicken wings in beer!
I poured a 12 oz bottle of Palo Santo Marron
I added about a cup of teriyaki sauce
I added a whole bottle of hot sauce
About a quarter cup of honey added
I mixed this liquids together nicely until well blended
I added the mixture with the chicken wings in my crock pot and let the wings slow cook on low for about 10 hours!
After the wings were done, they were fall off the bone tender. There was a nice spicy kick from the hot sauce, slight sweetness from the honey, salty from the teriyaki, and a really nice flavor from the Palo Santo Marron beer.
I decided to make some hand cut steak fries in the oven. 450 degrees for almost 30 minutes got them crispy golden-brown.
I needed a beer to go with this nice plate of goodness. When I think of spicy foods, I like to go with a good pale ale or IPA.
I decided to go with the Heavy Seas dubbel cannon from Clipper city brewing co in Baltimore,MD. A really excellent belgian style IPA! When first drinking this beer, I thought yes another delicious IPA. Copper Orange color, nice thin lacing on the glass. Citrus hop flavor, malty sweet, and belgian yeast. A very refreshing tasty beer from start to finish with hops, balanced sweet, and spicy finish. I enjoyed this beer a lot 4/5!
The beer paired really well with the wings and fries. I was quite pleased with myself with everything from the meal to the beer I drank with it. The only thing I needed was some bleu cheese or ranch!
