A kolsch style beer from Goose Island Brewery- Chicago, IL.
This is my first time trying Goose Island, which I have been hearing a lot of great things about and I finally found it in a store. I was in the mood for something light, summery, and refreshing. Summer beers are either hit or miss with me. My biggest complaint with summer beers are they can be the old same old, kinda boring, and very little flavor. I want my summer beer to be refreshing but flavorful. When I think of summer beer, Kolsch is definitely my favorite style for summer beer.
I really enjoyed this version of a kolsch from Goose Island. I have had a lot of Kolsch beers that I didn't really care for and this definitely isn't one of them. I like the obvious citrus flavor here that a lot of kolsch beers lack. There is a nice mild citrus hop flavor here. Some good spice and a sweet caramel malt. This carbonation is crisp and clean, this beer has a nice clean refreshing finish. A very satisying and excellent summer seasonal. It really hits the spot on a hot day. A great first experience from Goose Island and hopefully many more to come 4/5.
